ASK to put touses show grounds around the country all year round
According Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK)Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Batram Muthoka, it is so unfortunate that the facilities were being put to use only once in a year yet they had so much to offer in terms of innovation and technology transfer.
CEO, “At the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) we are formulating a development plan that will see use all show grounds around the country put to use all year round.
The chief executive says the grounds occupy huge chunks of land with a lot of resources spent in setting them up yet their output did not match the investment.
Muthoka says, “We want to see renewed use of the facilities throughout the year. The proposal is in our renewed four-year strategic plan running through to the year 2022.
The CEO was s in Nyeri during a tour of Kabirui-ini grounds ahead of the upcoming Central Kenya ASK show where he said ASK has already completed the Jamhuri Grounds in Nairobi master plan.
He also reported that they were looking for investors for the Nairobi Showground with construction underway of a mega expo he said would be probably bigger than KICC.
Muthoka said they were on course in developing similar plans for other grounds including Nyeri, Nakuru, Kisumu and Mombasa where they will engage planners who will give advice on possible offshore use of the grounds.
Central Kenya ASK Branch Chair, John Kibira, said preparations for the Nyeri show that will open its doors next week on Wednesday are complete with over 100 exhibitors having confirmed participation.
He said a lot was in the offing with much focus being placed on innovation, technology transfer and value addition.
The Nyeri County Commissioner, Fredrick Shisia, assured show goers of 24 hour security to ensure they go on with their business undisturbed.
