Governor affirms measures in place to benefit farmers in the County
Bungoma County is set to complete the construction of the Musese coffee factory by the end of 2020 to process coffee for both the local and international market. The County government is also issuing coffee seedlings to coffee farmers for free. Meanwhile local dairy farmers will now supply milk to the plant with the construction of a dairy plant at Webuye at a reasonable cost
The above were according to Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati who was speaking during the official launch of the Bungoma ASK show at Sang’alo grounds, Bungoma County.
The Governor however, urged the national government to get rid of corruption-ingrained officials at the Nzoia Sugar Company management, saying they may be the main factor behind the company’s collapse. “Our farmers haven’t been paid for more than two years and we won’t allow anyone to mess with Nzoia Suigar Company.
Bungoma Agriculture CEC Mathews Makanda said that through agriculture extension officers, farmers in Bungoma will get civic education on venturing in agribusiness and get connections to both the local and international markets.
