Enhancing Fertilizer Distribution: PS Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh inspects last-mile delivery of subsidized fertilizers & maize seeds in Kipkelion East, Kericho, to boost food security.
The agricultural sector remains the backbone of the nation’s economy, ensuring both sustenance and food security. To maximize productivity, targeted investments and streamlined distribution of critical farm inputs are essential.
Principal Secretary (PS) Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS, has inspected the ongoing last-mile distribution of subsidized government fertilizers and quality maize seeds at the Chesinende Farmers Cooperative in Kipkelion East Sub-County, Kericho.
“In collaboration with the county government, we have established last-mile fertilizer distribution centers across the county, thereby alleviating the travel and queuing burdens for farmers,” said Dr. Ronoh.
Addressing farmers at the depot, the PS encouraged them to actively engage in large-scale planting to enhance food security and mitigate food shortages. He emphasized that Kenya is endowed with deep, well-drained, and fertile soils that favor the growth of diverse crops, urging farmers to leverage this advantage to boost production and generate surplus food.
Dr. Ronoh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity, ensuring food security, and improving farm incomes through sustained support and improved accessibility to farm inputs.
This initiative is part of the broader government strategy to empower farmers and strengthen food production across the country.
