How Nandi Farmers Will Benefit from the New 500m Modernized Kaimosi Agricultural Training Centre

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang is spearheading the completion of the modernisation of the Kaimosi Agricultural Training Centre as one of his legacy projects to transform the agriculture sector.

The modernisation is expected to cost more than Sh500 million.

The college will be turned into a centre of excellence for agricultural training and innovation.

Sang said its one of the strategic investments and partnerships by the Nandi government to help in long-term transformation of lives through agriculture.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the ongoing modernisation works at the facility, Sang said the county is committed to equipping farmers and students with practical skills to boost agricultural productivity.

โ€œWe are working towards transforming Kaimosi Agricultural Training Centre into a centre of excellence for agricultural training on various value chains and innovation,โ€ the governor said.

โ€œThrough strategic investments and collaborations, we aim to modernise the facility, improve training programmes and enhance infrastructure to better serve farmers, agripreneurs, students and beyond.โ€

The modernisation plan includes upgrading learning resources, equipping demonstration farms with modern agricultural technologies and strengthening partnerships with research institutions and key agribusiness stakeholders.

Kaimosi ATC director of agriculture Levy Kachilei said the college played a pivotal role in shaping the future of agriculture.

He said the college will help tackle challenges faced by farmers and producers.

โ€œOur focus is on providing practical, modern agricultural training that empowers farmers with the right skills.

By upgrading our learning resources and integrating the latest farming technologies, we will enhance agricultural productivity and contribute significantly to the regionโ€™s economic growth.โ€ Kechilei said.

Sang said transforming Kaimosi ATC into a hub of agricultural excellence is part of the countyโ€™s broader strategy to unlock the agricultural potential of Nandi County and surrounding regions.

โ€œBy doing this, we seek to empower farmers with practical skills, increase agricultural productivity and drive economic growth in the region,โ€ he said.
