Nyandarua Farmers to Benefit from Advanced Soil Testing Through New Partnership
Nyandarua Farmers to Benefit from Advanced Soil Testing & Market Access – Over 9,000 farmers in Nyandarua will gain from a new partnership between the county government and CGA, providing soil testing, certified seeds, and better market opportunities.

Over 9,000 farmers in Nyandarua County are set to benefit from best soil testing practices following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between His Excellency Governor (Dr.) Moses N. Badilisha Kiarie and the Cereal Growers Association (CGA).
The agreement, formalized on Friday in Rurii Ward, Ol’Kalou Sub-County, was signed on behalf of the Governor by County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, Hon. Francis Miring’u. This collaboration aims to provide comprehensive soil testing services, enabling farmers to optimize their agricultural productivity while improving disease and pest control measures.
Boosting Agricultural Productivity in Nyandarua
Beyond soil testing, the partnership will facilitate farmers’ access to certified seeds and guaranteed markets for their produce. This initiative aligns with the Governor’s broader efforts to enhance food security and support local farmers, following the recent distribution of subsidized fertilizer for the ongoing short rains planting season.

Additionally, Hon. Miring’u, together with Chief Officer Mr. Samuel Gitaka and CGA’s Business Partnerships and Development Lead, Dr. Moses Mwanje, inspected a week-long Trainers of Trainers (ToT) capacity-building program. This program, supported by CGA and CARE-Kenya, is equipping Ward Agricultural Extension Officers with skills in entrepreneurship and financial literacy, further strengthening farmer support systems across the county.
With this strategic partnership, Nyandarua’s farmers are expected to experience higher yields, improved soil health, and better market access, ensuring a more profitable and sustainable agricultural sector.
