The bananas are said to be the new cash cow for farmers from Yururu at the county.

Jane Nderitu, an expert from Africa Harvest, said FHIA17 variety is resistant to Panorama disease.

The variety has an average of 25 bunches on every stalk and more than 28 fingers.

The variety grows to a maximum height of three metres and matures in one year.

She urged farmers to plant the variety during the El Nino rains.
