The County Government of Nyeri has taken a significant step towards enhancing food security, economic empowerment, and sustainable aquaculture development through the establishment of the Wambugu Aquaculture Training Centre Aqua-Park. Agriculture Chief Officer Jane Njuguna officiated the stocking of six fish ponds with 6,000 Tilapia F9 monosex fingerlings. Each pond received 1,000 fingerlings. The selected fingerlings are expected to optimize growth rates and enhance production efficiency.

The Wambugu Aquaculture Training Centre in Nyeri has further benefited from a functional borehole and a high-capacity water reservoir established with the support of Governor Dr. Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga. The water supply will ensure the Aqua-Park’s operations remain sustainable and reliable.

The Aqua-Park is envisioned as a centre of excellence for modern aquaculture. It will provide practical training opportunities for farmers, youth, and agribusiness entrepreneurs. It will also serve as a reliable source of high-quality fish for residents of Nyeri County and beyond.
