Nyeri County showcases climate-smart agriculture, modern farming technologies and value addition at the Central Kenya Agricultural Show held at Kabiruini Showground.

The County Government of Nyeri, through the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Aquaculture Development, was firmly on the ground during the Central Kenya Agricultural Show held at the Kabiruini Showground from 9th to 12th September 2026.

Led by the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Livestock and Aquaculture Development, Mr James Wachihi, the department’s team of officers took the opportunity to showcase agricultural technologies, innovations and management practices.

They also highlighted ongoing efforts to transform agriculture and improve the livelihoods of the people of Nyeri.

Through the support of Governor Mutahi Kahiga, the department showcased its achievements and efforts, demonstrating the county’s continued investment in a productive, resilient and modern agricultural sector.

The department also had the opportunity to engage with Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mutahi Kagwe, sharing insights into the progress being made in agriculture, livestock and aquaculture across Nyeri County.

The department’s exhibition brought together a rich display of climate-smart agriculture, modern farming technologies, livestock development, aquaculture, value addition, agribusiness and innovative solutions tailored to the needs of farmers.

The showcase also provided a platform for Nyeri’s agripreneurs to exhibit their value-added products, demonstrating how innovation and entrepreneurship can turn agricultural production into sustainable enterprises and create greater economic opportunities for farmers and young people.

One of the standout features was the “Tower of Leather”, a striking centrepiece that highlighted the potential for value addition within the livestock value chain, from livestock production to leather and finished products.

Beyond showcasing achievements, the Central Kenya Agricultural Show was a teaching and learning opportunity.

Officers engaged with farmers, entrepreneurs, students and visitors while equally gaining new insights, exchanging knowledge and learning from innovations and experiences across the agricultural sector.

The four-day event provided an important platform to showcase, learn, connect and innovate, reinforcing the County Government of Nyeri’s commitment to placing agriculture at the heart of economic transformation and improved livelihoods.
